ABCmouse Word Reading Flashcards Level 1 take a child from knowing letter sounds to reading whole words and short sentences. The deck is built on phonics word families: learn one pattern like -at and a child can decode cat, hat, mat, bat, and rat the first time they see them. That transfer is what turns sounding out into reading.
Each card front shows three rhyming words with colored underlines that mark the syllables, and each card back puts those words in a short decodable sentence, so reading practice happens in context, not as drilling. Color-coded borders sort the deck by pattern tier, so you focus on one group at a time with no prep.
